How to make charcoal briquettes from sawdust?

Sawdust is a by-product of wood processing, which is usually considered as waste. However, through reasonable processing and utilization, sawdust can be transformed into valuable resources, such as making charcoal briquettes. Charcoal briquettes are an environmentally friendly fuel, which is widely used in barbecue, heating and industrial production. The following are the basic steps to make charcoal briquettes with sawdust:

1. Prepare raw materials

First, you need to collect enough sawdust. Sawdust should be dry and free of impurities, such as dirt or stones. If the moisture content of sawdust is too high, it is suggested to dry it first to improve the subsequent production efficiency.

2. Crushing and screening

In order to ensure the quality of charcoal briquettes, sawdust needs to be further crushed to make its particle size uniform. After crushing, you can use a screen to screen out the larger particles and only keep the fine sawdust.

3. Add adhesive (optional)

If the sawdust itself is difficult to be directly molded, it is necessary to add an adhesive. Commonly used adhesives include starch, clay or other natural materials. Mix an appropriate amount of adhesive with sawdust and add a small amount of water to make it a uniform mixture.

4. Pressing and forming

Put the mixed sawdust into a special sawdust briquette machine and press it into a ball or block by high temperature and high pressure. Pressing will produce high temperature in the process, which will help to enhance the hardness and combustion performance of briquettes.

5. Carbonization treatment

After briquetting, it is necessary to carbonize the sawdust briquettes. Carbonization is carried out in high temperature and oxygen-deficient environment, and is usually completed by carbonization furnace. During carbonization, the volatiles in sawdust are removed, leaving charcoal briquettes with high carbon content.

6. Cooling and storage

After carbonization, the charcoal briquettes were cooled to room temperature. Avoid contact with moisture in the air during cooling, so as not to affect the quality. Finally, store the cooled charcoal briquettes in a dry and ventilated place to prevent them from getting wet.

Matters needing attention

1. Safety should be paid attention to in the production process, especially in the carbonization process, to avoid fire caused by high temperature.

2. Ensure the use of environmentally friendly adhesives to avoid environmental pollution.

3. If conditions permit, the waste gas generated in the production process can be recycled for other purposes.

Through the above steps, you can easily turn waste sawdust into efficient and environmentally friendly charcoal briquettes. This not only helps to reduce the waste of resources, but also provides a clean energy source for family or business use.
