Five steps of making sawdust charcoal

Sawdust charcoal is an environmentally friendly and efficient fuel, which is widely used in barbecue, heating and industrial production. The manufacturing process is not complicated, and it is mainly divided into the following five steps:

charcoal making process

1.Crushing raw materials

The first step in making sawdust charcoal is to crush the raw materials. Common raw materials include sawdust and bamboo chips. These raw materials need to be processed into fine particles by crusher, so that the subsequent processing can be more uniform and efficient. The particle size of crushed raw materials is usually between 3 and 5 mm, which can ensure the stability and uniformity of combustion.

2.Drying

Crushed raw materials usually contain a certain amount of moisture, and too high moisture content will affect the subsequent briquetting and carbonization process. Therefore, it is necessary to use drying equipment to reduce the moisture in raw materials to below 10%. This step can improve the quality of finished charcoal and reduce energy consumption.

3.Making briquettes

The dried sawdust needs to be pressed by a sawdust briquette machine. Usually, the sawdust is compressed into dense briquettes by high temperature and high pressure. This step not only makes the raw materials more compact, but also effectively improves the combustion efficiency. The shape of the formed briquettes is regular, which is convenient for subsequent carbonization, storage and transportation.

4.Carbonization

The prepared briquettes are put into carbonizer for carbonization. Carbonization is the most critical step in the whole production process, which decomposes the organic matter in the briquettes through high temperature and oxygen-free environment, and finally forms dense and high-energy charcoal. In the process of carbonization, it is necessary to strictly control the temperature and time to ensure the best quality of charcoal.

5.Charcoal cooling

After carbonization, the charcoal with high temperature needs to be cooled. Natural cooling or water cooling is usually adopted to avoid spontaneous combustion or cracking of charcoal due to high temperature. In the cooling process, we should pay attention to avoid direct contact with air, so as not to cause oxidation reaction, which will affect the quality of charcoal.

Through the above five steps, sawdust charcoal is made. This kind of charcoal is not only environmentally friendly and smokeless, but also has a long burning time and high calorific value, so it is a high-quality clean energy source. With the enhancement of people’s awareness of environmental protection, the production and application prospects of sawdust charcoal will be broader.
