How many methods are there for producing charcoal from biomass materials?

In modern society, with the increasing demand for renewable energy and environmental protection materials, the method of producing charcoal in biomass materials has been widely concerned. There are mainly three core processes: traditional kiln firing method, mechanical production method and modern continuous pyrolysis carbonization method. They are all based on the principle of pyrolysis of biomass at high temperature under isolated or anoxic conditions.

carbonizing furnace

First of all, the traditional kiln firing method is one of the oldest methods. The method uses a traditional charcoal kiln made of clay or masonry, puts logs or branches into the kiln for ignition, and slowly smolders and carbonization the wood for several days under the anoxic state by controlling the air intake. Although this method is simple, it is inefficient and has a great impact on the environment.

Secondly, the machine-made charcoal production method is a relatively modern process. The method comprises the following steps: firstly, crushing and drying biomass wastes such as sawdust, rice husk, straws and the like, then pressing the biomass wastes into briquette-shaped molded products by a briquette machine at high temperature and high pressure, and finally feeding the briquette-shaped molded products into a carbonization furnace for anaerobic or anoxic pyrolysis. This method not only improves the utilization rate of biomass, but also can produce machine-made charcoal with regular shape and high density.

Finally, the modern continuous pyrolysis carbonization method represents the highest level of industrialized charcoal production at present. The method adopts large-scale automatic carbonization equipment, and biomass raw materials are directly pyrolyzed in a closed continuous pyrolysis furnace, so that combustible gas can be efficiently recovered and high-quality charcoal can be continuously produced. This method not only improves the production efficiency, but also significantly reduces the environmental pollution.

Generally speaking, these three methods have their own advantages and disadvantages and are suitable for different production needs. With the continuous progress of technology, the method of producing charcoal in biomass materials will be more efficient and environmentally friendly, which will provide important support for sustainable development.
